In January 2012 Batumi Oil Terminal completed commissioning works and put into operation a gas collector system in the area of “Oil Base”, including odor-suppressor unit, jointly designed and manufactured by the companies of “Conty Chemical” (Latvia), “Kappa Gi” (Italy) and Institute of Oil Transport (Ukraine). The named system meets all requirements of European standards and ensures the complete air tightness of oil products loading/discharging operations in tanks, railway and motor Estacadas, and reduces the volume of harmful substances emission to ambient air for more than 90%. Similar oil vapor recovery systems have been operated already for two years at berths complex, in tank farms of oil and fuel oil area and in area of Kapreshumi, as a result of which the concentrations of substances contained in oil vapors at the boundary of the company, are significantly below to the corresponding hygiene and sanitary norms. These activities are part of large-scale environmental program of Batumi Oil Terminal, and are agreed with the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Georgia. This program is aiming to prevent emission of odor and substantially improve quality metrics of ambient air in the zone of production infrastructure of the company.
