The BOT Health Safety, Security and Environmental department (HSSE) implements a variety of measures related to the environmental protection, work safety, industrial and fire safety and personnel’s health safety.

The HSSE service ensures that BOT complies with the international standards for quality management systems,environmental protection, health safety and security, ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, and OSHAS 18001:2007.


The following HSSE services and systems currently operate at BOT:


  • Fire fighting service consisting of two fire departments, including 81 firemen, 5 fire fighting vehicles, fire fighting ladder and foam supply vehicle. The service is fully equipped with all necessary equipment andfacilities to execute fire fighting functions.


  • Oil spill response team providing monitoring and elimination of spill of Tier I and Tier II levels both at sea and onshore. The team structure and equipment are in full compliance with all international standards. The entire staff of response team received professional training and was certified by SEACOR. The team alsohas Certificates of Completion of ISGOTT 5 course issued by the Batumi Maritime Academy.


  • Environmental Monitoring System allowing the control of environmental condition of air, water and soil, which makes it possible to plan preventive measures to reduce impact on the environment.


  • Vapour filtering systems and the smell suppression systems allowing the transshipment of light crude oil grades with no harm to the environment.


  • Rules for work and general safety, instructions and regulations for all types of activities of main and auxiliary processes.


  • BOT staff’s health monitoring system.


  • The standing committee on industrial, labour and environment safety.


  • Video monitoring system, together with security staff and rapid response team ensuring the overall BOT safety.
